Businesses with problems and questions, including those in Suffolk, can get free help by calling a phone mentoring service, financed by the British Banking Association. The service, www.mentorsme.co.uk, replaces the advice service currently offered by Business Link which is being run-down and will close in November.
Suffolk-based Ian Perry, from Remedy for Business Ltd, members of the ibd Business Advice Group Ltd, will be one of the credited advisers.
“The idea is that established, as well as start-up businesses, can have access to the ears of advisers, who will use their vast network of contacts, and their own experience of how they overcame problems, to offer workable solutions,” explained Ian. “We are very pleased that Remedy for Business Ltd has the opportunity to be one of the businesses mentors included in this innovative and exciting new service. The funding from the British Bankers Association, (backed by the Government), means that this is a free service and we are looking forward to helping and supporting local businesses.”
BBA chief executive, Angela Knight, said: “Banks are committed to helping businesses access finance. We know lack of financial training and the ability to put together a sound business case can hold people back when applying for credit. The Business Finance Taskforce aims to provide finance, help and support both directly and through partnership with business organisations up and down the country.
“Mentorsme is a key initiative helping to match business customers with support from trained and accredited mentors. Our members appreciate they have a role to play in supporting the UK economy and are determined to play their full part in the nation’s economic recovery.”
The forthcoming closure of Business Link by the Government has been controversial, but the new service should reassure businesses that there will still be a knowledgeable and experienced source of independent advice available to them.
